How requests reach members
Buy Iowa Asphalt is run by APAI for its members. A property owner traces the area they want paved on an aerial photo, answers two questions, and the request goes to members serving that county with the measured square footage and a picture of the job attached.
How we decide who gets a request
Within a county, requests go to the members who have waited longest since their last one. It is a straight rotation. Membership tier does not move you up the list, and there is no way to pay for placement.
A property owner sees our picks before sending and can swap someone out. Most do not, so in practice the rotation is what happens. We record how often it is changed so APAI can see whether that is working.
What you receive
- The measured area, in square feet and square yards.
- A drawing of the shape they traced, over the location.
- What kind of work it is, and roughly when they want it.
- Their name, phone number, and email. Replying goes straight to them.
The square footage comes from a shape a property owner drew with their finger or a mouse. It is a starting point for a conversation, not a survey. Confirm it on site.
Changing the counties you serve
Service areas are declared, not guessed. We never compute a radius around your address, because that would route you work you do not want. You tell APAI which counties you take, and only those counties send you requests.
To add or remove a county, or to pause requests entirely without leaving the directory, contact APAI staff.
Associate membership
Associate members appear in the rotation on exactly the same footing as full members. A smaller operator in one or two counties gets the requests from those counties as they come up, in turn, alongside everyone else.

Suppliers and batch plants
Suppliers, batch plants, and service providers are listed in the member directory but never receive a consumer request, because your customer is the contractor rather than the property owner.
